Simple Living, High Thinking
We strive to create a living, working sustainable community with ecologically sound solutions for housing, education, food production, technology, social interactions and economy. This will provide space and time for cooperative creativity, spiritual growth and healing.
Saranagati is a place of reflection and personal growth; it is a shelter for deep and lifelong friendships; it is a place to reconnect with the elements, with life itself and with the Person and purpose behind it all.
Saranagati, home for more than 50 families, enjoys the opulence of great neighbors. Meet them and the homes they've created and see how they've solved the challenges of living off the grid and away from urban and suburban life.
Simple living and high thinking means:
· to live in rhythm with natural order
· to care for our place and the beings in it
· to discover the truth, beauty and godliness of this way of life
and as a result to experience personal fulfillment, happiness and harmony.
In Saranagati we find time to ask the basic questions: Who am I? Why am I here? What is my aim in life and how can I achieve it? Although all the answers may not always be as clear as we would like, individually and as a community we are dedicated to searching for those answers.
Moving Forward: Bringing water to a blossoming community
Now the residents of Saranagati are ready for the next stage: bringing ample water to the valley so that the abundant gifts of the land will be further realized. With this water, 300 acres will be available to farm, protect cows, create electricity, open more economic opportunities, attract more residents and allow the community to receive many more visitors for seminars, retreats and festivals.
Meet some Saranagati-ites
We wanted our daughter to grow up with devotees, to have quality schooling, to have ample space and open air and not to be around television. We've found that for her and much for us also like less mundane distractions, more spiritual attraction in Saranagati. Yadubara das
When Dinatarine and I first visited Saranagati in 1998, we could feel the potency of the holy name reverberating through the valley. Devotees had been chanting Hare Krishna here for fifteen years and the purifying effect was palpable. It was not difficult for us to decide to move to Saranagati. Yamuna Devi
"I love it in Saranagati. I don't want to go anywhere else. And I would like to somehow share the simple and fulfilling life we've found here. Udara Kirti Devi Dasi
