Growing a community: A cooperative effort has created infrastructure and support for present and future organic producers and artisans in Venables Valley and area. We will facilitate cooperative infrastructure developments in the Valley and provide local farms with seeds, equipment, land, alternative energy, water, compost and soil amendments. We will provide the community members with education, business planning, management and marketing.
Our current goals are:
- Cow protection and calving program
- Develop a seed bank, irrigation system, nursery
- Publish growing plan for crops to be grown in the valley
- Support Permaculture and Organic Farming Practices
- Support Eco-tourism ventures by valley residents
- Implement valley wide compost system
- Create a business and sales office for business development and marketing of Valley products and services
- Implement alternative energy systems (hydro, solar, wind, methane, etc...)
A pipeline was built to bring fresh water from the mountains into the valley to further develop agriculture and cow protection in the Valley.
